Nuad is an ancient form of bodywork with deep roots in Ayurveda and Buddhism. Also known as Thai Massage or Passive Yoga, it addresses the whole person – touching and balancing the physical as well as the subtle body. Thai bodywork is like doing Yoga without any effort, as the therapist puts your body into various positions and stretches without any work on your part.
A full-body treatment starts at the feet and progresses up to the head. The therapist creates flowing rhythmic compression using palms, knees, feet, elbows and fingers blended with stretching positions to effectively produce a harmonious integration of your body’s vital systems. This unique type of bodywork restores the flow of energy throughout the body, resulting in a deep meditative state, allowing the receiver’s body to free up and restore.
The session is done on a futon-like mat on the floor, allowing better access to certain muscles and facilitating the passive stretching and the mobilization of joints in a variety of positions. For your session, please wear comfortable exercise-type clothing and avoid eating immediately before the session. Sessions are scheduled with a minimum of 60 minutes. This length of time allows a full body treatment that addresses the entire being as well as extra attention to specific areas of pain, tightness or discomfort.
